Royal Lytham & St Anne's Golf Club
Royal Lytham & St. Anne’s Golf Club has hosted so many Open Championships that if an English course were to be given the title of the “St. Andrews of England,” Royal Lytham and St. Anne’s Golf Club would likely voted for the place. Royal Lytham and St. Anne’s is pure links, a menacing terrain of humps, hillocks, and the most penalizing bunkers on the Open rotation, over 190 of them. Hemmed in by the wonderfully-English red brick houses, Royal Lytham and St. Anne’s Golf Club is a cosy, intimate venue where spectators can view the action from the roofs. Make sure you make the pilgrimage to England’s Royal Lytham and St. Anne’s Golf Club at least once in your lifetime.
Titanic Hotel Liverpool
Titanic Hotel is part of the redevelopment of the historic Stanley Dock complex. It is located in what was the North Warehouse. The North Warehouse was built in 1846 and finished in 1854 and has been derelict for a number of years. Part of the North Warehouse was damaged in an air raid in World War II. The Rum Warehouse which is attached to the North Warehouse and built in the 1950’s, has become a major new conference, banqueting and exhibition venue for 21st century Liverpool. The 153 rooms at Titanic Hotel are all about the space. Our furnishings are rich and earthy. Our bed linen, is nothing short of wondrous. Each bedroom has the original windows of this incredible building giving vast views over the historic Port of Liverpool.
Hillside Golf Club
Jack Nicklaus called the back nine of Hillside golf course the finest he had ever played. The Hillside Golf Club in Southport England, next door to Royal Birkdale on the Merseyside coast, a roller-coaster of a back nine with arguably even larger dunes than its esteemed neighbour. Hillside Golf Club is actually ranked in the top 25 courses in all the British Isles, but is relatively unknown internationally because it has never hosted the Open. Hillside Golf Club is though one of the best, if not the very best, of the Open Championship final qualifying venues, and Hillside Golf Club has also hosted the Amateur Championship and numerous European Tour events. What a great number of golf courses there is indeed here on the Northwest coast in England, indulge yourself and include a round at Hillside Golf Club.
Royal Birkdale Golf Club
Royal Birkdale Golf Club in lovely Southport England is one of the most dramatic of the British Open venues. Royal Birkdale Golf Club’s huge dunes which line both sides of most holes immediately bring to mind images of famous links in Ireland. One difference here in Southport England though is that at Royal Birkdale Golf Club, the holes run generally in between the dunes, with little trickery, making Royal Birkdale Golf Club one of the favourites of the pros on the Open rotation. The unique Royal Birkdale Golf Club clubhouse has often been likened to a ship heading out to sea, and is another memorable part of a visit to Royal Birkdale! With Liverpool being such a great base for your England golf package, Royal Birkdale Golf Club is a must-play on your golfing bucket list.
Old Prestwick Glf Club
Old Prestwick Golf Club is a very well established links Championship course with undulating fairways and lush greens. It is a very traditional club that is very friendly and provides a welcome Scottish hospitality to the many visitors who choose to play this lovely course.
Barceló Marine Troon Hotel
Barcelo Troon Marine Hotel, no better place to start your morning by overlooking the 18th hole at the famous Royal Troon Golf Club. This magnificent hotel also commands stunning views over to Arran and the beautiful Ayrshire coastline. The hotel has recently been totally refurbished and guarantees a stay that will be both luxurious and memorable. The hotel also has a choice of restaurants and the bar is always stocked with the finest malt whiskies.
Royal Troon Golf Club
Royal Troon is very famous for being one of the best links courses in the world. It has hosted the Open Championship on many occasions and many famous faces have graced this course. It provides many challenging holes and the narrow fairways and strategically placed sandtraps invite trouble for any wayward shots.
Turnberry Ailsa Golf Course
This piece of land with the Ailsa Golf Course inspired local Scots to play the game. Imagine rolling hills, sandy dunes and a breeze from the Ayrshire coast, this this the character of Turnberry’s Alisa, which needed no designer only nature to manicure the landscape. The duel between Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson during the Open 1977 highlighted Turnberry’s claim to be among the best of the links courses. Length is not everything. A true seaside course requires imagination, a golfer who can work the ball both ways and a deadly short game. Age is only a number on a wonderful course such as the Alisa.
Castle Course St Andrews
St Andrews Links Trusts seventh course opened in June 2008. Situated 2 miles outside the town, the Castle Course commands spectacular views over St Andrews Bay. Designed by the young Scottish architect, David McLay Kidd who is also responsible for the design of Bandon Dunes in Oregon. Although it cannot be defined as strictly a links course as it is built on farmland overlooking the town and not sandy soil linked to the sea, comparisons have already been made with Pebble Beach and certainly from a visual angle it is truly blessed.
Rusacks Hotel St Andrews
Rusacks Hotel originally opened in 1887 and has been stylishly remodelled to reflect the history of golf and take advantage of its prestigious location and fantastic views over the 1st and 18th holes of the Old Course. The comfortable and well equipped bedrooms are themed around some of the world’s top golfers, famous tournaments and infamous hazards like Hell’s Bunker and the Valley of Sin. Less than 100 yards from the 1st tee and 18th green of the Old Course and a short stroll from the town centre, Rusacks Hotel is in prime location in St Andrews.
Old Course St Andrews
The world famous Old Course is a classic links course. Here golf began 600 years ago, on public land, to which everyone can have access. The name of the architect is unknown but mother-nature has shaped this magnificent piece of land over the centuries. You will experience famous features along the way such as the enormous Hell bunker, the Road Hole, site of so many famous Open Championship moments, and the Swilken Bridge. Finally in the shadow of the Royal & Ancient Clubhouse when your ball drops in the last hole, you belong to the luckiest golfer on the planet who have finished the pilgrimage to St. Andrews successfully.
Carnoustie Golf Club
Carnoustie Golf Links is one of the strongest links course designs in Scotland. A round at Carnoustie tests every aspect of a golfer’s game, and any lapse in concentration destroys the scorecard. The course is most commonly known for Jean van de Velde’s self destruction during the 1999 Open Championship and the extremely difficult course setup that same year, which led to a +6 winning score. As time passes and Carnoustie becomes distanced from those events, hopefully the course will become less known for its penal past, and better known for its great design.
